my mother, a self professed pyromaniac, my late father, and I, all loved the band u2. her favorite song (and album) of theirs was, not so coincidentally, in my opinion, called “the unforgettable fire”. was she telling on herself? probably.
our poem “the fire watcher’s bomb” talks about the two generations of pyromaniacs on our mother’s side that came before us, our own struggles with compulsions, and our mother’s projections. this digital mixed media piece contains lines from “the fire watcher’s bomb”.
“the fire watcher’s bomb” appears in our upcoming zine, fear not the brave pain, which drops on october 11. ✨
it’s gonna be fire 🔥

I’m the original host of this system and have been tinkering with web design and the internet in general since I was about 5. I’ve been running WordPress since 2008, and since about that time, I’ve noticed what this article talks about more and more frequently. Namely, homogeneity, not just in terms of WordPress blogs, but across the entire Internet.
We already run a very lean and mean version of a preexisting WordPress theme on this site, one that several of us have lovingly tweaked over several months to suit our needs and provide users with as little clutter and bullshit as possible when they land the site from the jump so that they can just dive right in.
However, my system can be described with the word weird. And while I like what Open Sorcery looks like now, as we post more, explore ourselves, I want to modify the site to reflect us more. I’m reluctant to use phrasing like “reflect our brand” or anything like that, because we don’t really sell things on here, and on the rare occasions we do hawk our wares, the “brand” and the way we live are one and the same.
Because yes, I absolutely love accessible, clean design. But the Open Sorcery site is missing the strange artistic side of our self expression, which is a huge part of the way we do things.
This will likely be rolled out over time, require iterative tweaking and experimentation, and may change a lot aesthetically. Because we don’t fit one “look” and never have. And nothing will come of this tonight because I need more rest. I just wanted to put my thoughts down on paper for y’all before I lose them.
One thing I don’t want to change, though? A clean interface, free of unnecessary bullshit visual clutter. So while it may look fucking cool and striking, I want no detail to impede the actual function of the site.
✨oooo shiny website✨

I made my first zine today because I was bored and needed a vent. If you want a copy of your own, it’s free to download over here!

I hope you enjoyed this zine! I had a lot of fun making it.

The world is a bathroom, therefore y’all deserve the gift of their new photo, as well. His name is Tom Chongadil. He’s a desert rain frog. He is an all power war god who is angry at all actions.

Hear him roar.
I’ll be taking suggestions if any of y’all want me to curse your PFPs, as well. Just credit me if I do! ✨

A self portrait.

Can I draw hands? The jury is out.
Anyway, it’s me.

A bit of context: my friend mk (it/its) posted an incredible thought piece on its Substack on feral anarchy, what it means, etc., and I found it very inspiring. I, too, am quite feral, a synesthete, have zero sense of linear time, and have built my very neuroqueer life from a place of loosely organized chaos. So I decided to make art that aimed to describe my experience a bit. Therefore… Have this!
Many of the words in this art piece are from my poetry, hehe.
I highly recommend reading mk’s work if you do not and following/subscribing! It’s doing great things.
