Excellence and batshittery, done on purpose.
I’m Lazarus. I make art, music, poems, plays, and magic for the quiet, brilliant, broken ones. If that is you, welcome home. I adopt your kind.

But I did get some good rest and now I’m kinda dissolving into a bath. I think I’ll crash soon.
-Tristan, hi! It’s been awhile.
Emerson and I have been on not one, but two wild goose chases to the courthouse to try and apply for our damn marriage license.
I keep seeing reasons for the six month waiting period like “it’s to keep families together” and “to make sure divorcées are making the right decision and not jumping into another marriage”.
Bitch, Emerson and I have been married in every way but legal for going on three years now. Just let us make it official without another fucking byzantine hoop to jump through.
Aaaaaaghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

It’s 83% funded already, but any shares, donations, and engagement mean the world to me, as my husband and I are being evicted come Jan 31 for speaking out against our abusive ex.

I braved my camera shyness and told the backstory for my poem “to dance with a cyclone”, which I’ll post below:
Then Emerson and I filled out our marriage license application and made the appointment to submit it. I’m so excited.
One of our best friends also offered to get us a stay at a nice hotel in town after our wedding as a gift, and we took him up on that, so that’s booked, as well, eee 💛
I really need to get back to posting earlier…

I had Red Lobster for the first time in my life tonight. It was mid, except for the cheddar bay biscuits. I am thoroughly disappointed 😔.

I took an accidental nap this evening after Emerson and I got back from Barnes and Noble. We did a version of the Icelandic tradition Christmas Book Flood yesterday and it was delightful. I got him a book called Someone To Build a Nest In and he got me a lovely illustrated copy of Frankenstein. After the nap we finally watched the Wrinkle in Time movie. It came out before I was married the first time, and I had always heard it was a flop. I don’t think it was, it was relatively true to the spirit of the book, even if it took some liberties. Chris Pine was delightful in it.
Merry Christmas if you celebrate, as well!

We had a lovely lunch at a place we went to on a whim called Grand Café Hollander. We had a whipped feta dish and their mussel specialty dish, both of which were absolutely heavenly.
My turkey burger would’ve been better with some cheese, but it came with a very tasty curry ketchup on it and Emerson’s chicken dish was positively melt in your mouth delicious.
The atmosphere was lively and Dutch themed and we had a great time. It was well worth the trek out to Mequon.
Update 12/26/2025: we were given for this lunch from my grandmother for the express purpose of treating ourselves to a very fine meal, and we had also recently sold our lemon of a car, in case anyone is concerned about us eating out while simultaneously crowdfunding.
